The Under the Sea math activity is designed to help preschoolers practice counting to ten in a fun way. In the game you will meet cute sea creatures, such as fish, starfish, jellyfish, and crabs. Children will learn to recognize numbers, count objects, and match quantities to the numbers. This fun activity develops basic math skills, visual perception, and concentration.

Print the Ocean Animals worksheets for counting up to 10 and follow the instructions.

  1. Cut out all the cards and shuffle them. Depending on the age of the students, you can cut out cards for counting to five or counting to ten.
  2. Laminate the cards and use erasable markers or clothespins to indicate the answers.
  3. Invite a child to choose a card and name what is on it.
  4. Then, ask them to count the number of sea creatures and say the answer aloud.
  5. Then, have them select the appropriate number in the corresponding box (e.g., «6 jellyfish» – «6»).

The Math Ocean Game is very attractive to young children because it allows them to learn about the underwater world. This task is ideal for home or kindergarten settings. Thanks to its simple format, children can complete it independently or with an adult's help.
