Food and Clothes Sorting Activity Sheet

This sorting activity is designed to help kids learn to classify objects by their common characteristics. The game teaches children to categorize items and expands their vocabulary.
Print out the Clothes and Food Sorting Activity and follow these steps to prepare the materials.
- First, cut the sheet with the refrigerator and wardrobe into two large cards indicating the sorting groups.
- Cut out the food and clothing cards and mix them.
- We recommend using a laminator and small boxes for the game cards.
The cards show various items, including food and clothing. Have the student select a card, name the item, and determine where it belongs—in the refrigerator or the wardrobe. For example: «Cheese is food, so it should be put in the refrigerator.»
Depending on the child's age and skills, you can make the game more challenging. For instance, place several clothing cards on the wardrobe picture. Then, ask the child to memorize them. Next, hide some cards and ask the child to say which items are missing.
