Witch Hat Matching Worksheets
The Halloween-themed educational game Magic Hats effectively develops the logical thinking, visual perception, analytical skills, and spatial orientation of children ages 3–4. The ability to analyze two characteristics of an object simultaneously, such as the color of the ribbon and the geometric shape, is an important stage in preschoolers' intellectual development.
The Halloween worksheets include cards to cut out and a table with empty cells to place them in. The top horizontal row contains colored squares (red, green, blue, purple, etc.) that indicate the color of the ribbon on the hat. The left vertical column contains dark silhouettes of Halloween symbols, such as a bat, potion bottle, spiderweb, mushroom, cat, moon, sun, star, lightning, and pumpkin.
Print out this sorting worksheets for children ages three and up, then cut out the set of magic hat cards from separate sheets of paper. The game consists of two game boards, each with 15 sorting slots. Players select one card at a time featuring a hat and identify the color of the ribbon and the symbol on the hat. Then, they must find a cell on the game board at the intersection of the ribbon's color column and the symbol's row. Once they find the right spot, they should place the card there and move on to placing the next one.
