Insects Illustration and Photography Matching Game

The «Getting to Know Insects» educational kit is an effective way to introduce children to the variety of insects in the world around them. Children are asked to examine an illustration (e.g. a bee) and find the corresponding image among the real photographs.

Print these insect worksheets for children aged 3 and over. The kit consists of two parts: a chart with twelve colourful cartoon illustrations and a sheet with corresponding realistic macro photographs of insects. The list includes a ladybug, dragonfly, bee, ant, butterfly, grasshopper and praying mantis, among other interesting insects. Children are asked to identify the insects from the cartoon illustrations, name them and match each image to its corresponding real-life photo.

This activity can be used as a sorting exercise, either by placing the cards on a game board with the insect illustrations or by cutting out all the cards and playing a «match the pairs» game.
