Preschool Summer Color Sorting Mats Worksheet
This summer sorting activity helps preschoolers develop logical thinking, visual memory, and color recognition. In this game, children sort cards with summer objects on them into empty slots based on color.
Print out the color sorting mats and cut out the cards with summer items on them. Place the sheet with the color codes in front of the child and ask them to examine the first row of colored squares carefully. They should take the cards one by one, identify the color of the object depicted, and place the card under the corresponding color in the given row.
To simplify the game for younger children, partially fill in the rows, leaving only two or three colors to sort.
For older preschoolers, have them complete the task as quickly as possible or hide the color code after a few seconds to practice memory skills. Aside from using the game cards the way they are usually used, you can hide them in a sensory box filled with kinetic sand or in a small bag.
