Hot and Cold Matching Activity
Designed for toddlers ages two to three, the «Hot or Cold» flashcards help children learn basic physical properties, become familiar with opposites, and develop fine motor skills. The game introduces children to the world around them, teaches them to classify objects by temperature, and helps them learn important household safety rules.
Print the educational cards featuring hot and cold objects, then cut out all the elements on the activity pages. The game includes a total of 24 cards—12 for each group—to sort. Choose a card with your child and carefully examine the objects, thinking about their properties and purposes. At the bottom of each card are two hint symbols: a flame (hot) and an ice cube (cold). Children need to determine which group each object belongs to and select it using one of the following methods.
- Clothespin Game (for developing fine motor skills): The child takes a card, looks at the picture, names the object, and attaches a clothespin to the corresponding symbol (either the flame or the ice cube) at the bottom.
- The Finger-Pointing Game is for the youngest students. The child can point to the correct symbol or cover it with a coin or button.
