Counting and Addition Worksheets to 10 for Kids
«Visual Addition» is a great way to help preschoolers get a handle on counting within 10, understand the basics of addition, and grasp the idea of number composition. The worksheets have the child count the number of squares, make examples, and solve them.
Print out the visual math worksheets for preschoolers on a black-and-white printer, and then use a pencil to do the addition. First, take a close look at the example at the top of the worksheet. The left side has black and gray squares, and next to it is the finished example. The numbers «6» and «4» next to the squares match the number of black and gray squares, respectively. Then, after adding 6 + 4, you get 10, which you write after the ««=» sign.
You will see ten cells filled with black and gray squares in front of him, which makes it easy to understand how two numbers (addends) form a whole sum. These worksheets help you understand the composition of numbers to 10. After writing an example and doing addition within 10, students can check their answer and count the sum of all the black and gray squares together.
These composition worksheets are designed to help students understand how the two numbers form an integer sum.
The worksheets are split into two groups of four, based on how hard they are. You can use the easier worksheets, where squares of the same color are shown one after the other, or you can print out the counting to 10 worksheets with a random arrangement of the colors of the squares. During the activity, the kids get to work with the addition within 10 worksheets. They look at the visual model, count objects of different colors, and then write the mathematical expression on their own. It's a helpful shift from working with concrete things (squares) to abstract ones (numbers), which is key to getting a handle on arithmetic in elementary school.
